About this course

Product design features the identification of a market opportunity from a clearly defined problem, developing a solution for that problem, and validating the solution with end-users and stakeholders. It involves activities from conceptual design to product development, which constitute important parts of industrial design. This course features the design of a simple machine, and a smart IoT device enclosure. It highlights the role of the mechanical designer and other affiliated engineering roles in ensuring that a product functions according to specification, meets the client's requirement, then meets the minimum global standards. We would explore one of the popular additive manufacturing technologies, called FDM/FFF, as it would apply to the product design workflow. You will gain professional CAD skills, learn design collaboration via a cloud-based solution, learn how to collaborate with other stakeholders on a project, specifically the electronics/PCB design team, and finally visualize and optimize your designs for rapid prototyping (3D printing). Through this course, you will learn the foundations of product innovation, testing and digital manufacturing while developing strong technical skills.  Certificate of Completion will be issued only after a successful completion of the training.

What you will learn

You will be able to understand and work with product requirements and Specifications    You will learn about the future of work and design thinking.    You will learn tech stewardship and the need for sustainability in your designs.    You will gain in-depth knowledge of a CAD software and its role in the product development workflow      You will be able to adopt standardization for decision-making (e.g IP rating)    You will learn concepts like digital product testing and how they apply in the product development workflow. (e.g Dynamic event simulation)    You will learn about Design for additive manufacturing (DfAM)    You will learn to explore Design rules and considerations for FDM/FFF    You will learn to optimize your design for printing using a CAD tool and or third-party software (Slicers)    You will learn about 3D Printers its operation    You will learn Post processing of prints      You will learn about Creating Product documentations and photorealistic renders
